IT'S SHOWTIME!
Some of the area's finest singers and musicians are starring in The Park Theatre's 2008 Season Premier "IT'S SHOWTIME!". This live and lively performance features the best Broadway music from The Sound of Music, The King and I, Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, West Side Story, and Guys and Dolls, called by some in "the business", the 'perfect musical comedy'. The show starts at 8:00 pm on April 19 at St. Patrick 's School on Main Street in Jaffrey.
Katie Rolph of Francestown (top) , a senior at Emerson College in Boston, returns to town to perform "Johnny One Note" from Babes in Arms. Dylan Glow (bottom) and Jeffrey McInnis (center) , both Mascenic High School seniors, sing well-loved tunes from Fiddler on the Roof and My Fair Lady. Liz Sumner of Marlborough, a founding member of Small Pond Productions in Marlborough will be joined by Elizabeth Nieckoski and Lisa Perreault in a trio from Company. Also performing will be John Sansone, co-founder of Small Pond Productions; Mark Fernald of Sharon; David Vernier, founder and director of The Peterborough Chamber Choir; Melody Rolph; Gail Novotny; Maria Belva, co-founder and director of the Peterborough Children's Choir and trustee of The Park Theatre; and a surprise performance of a local gal that shouldn't be missed!
The band, conducted by Ned Dahl of Peterborough, features the top local talents of Gordon Estabrook, trombone; Jo-Ann Gerde, drums; JC Graham, guitar; Emily Hartshorne, violin; Bruce Larsen, bass; Floyd Oster, trumpet; Dick Sanders, clarinet; Holly Sanders, flute; and Millie Vigneault, piano.
Tickets to "IT'S SHOWTIME!" are $25 and include a dessert reception following the performance. Tickets are available at the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce, Steele's Stationary and Toadstool's Bookstore in Peterborough. Proceeds from the show benefit St. Patrick School and The Park Theatre.
The Park Theatre Partners' productions coming up in April include The Branch River Theatre's production of "The Foreigner" on April 17, 18 and 19 at the Marlborough Meeting House in Marlborough and The Monadnock Chorus' Spring Concert on April 26 and April 27 at the Peterborough Town House.
The Park Theatre's free Outdoor Summer Movie Nights begins with "Some Like It Hot" on Thursday, July 10 at 8:30 pm. These free summer movies run throughout July at the Jaffrey Civic Center who generously hosts the summer movie series. The Civic Center's own Annual "Night of 1,000 Cupcakes" is on Thursday, July 17. For that event The Park Theatre will show "Girl Crazy" starring Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. One of the best-loved Tarzan movies and a round-up of Bugs Bunny and Friends Cartoons wrap up the summer movie series.
