Project Shakespeare founder and program director Deborah Shakespeare Thurber calls Project Shakespeare, "A dynamic theatre education program for middle and high school students."  Founded in 1994 by Thurber, Project Shakespeare is an intensive theatre experience offering professional instruction in acting, dance, and movement as well as critical analysis of Shakespeare's text and language. From the printed page to the stage, students face the challenge of learning how to translate the written word to an exciting theatrical experience alive with personal meaning for both the performer and the audience. No prior theatre experience is necessary, but all students interesting in participating in Project Shakespeare should be highly engaged and motivated.

For further information concerning instruction,  application to the project, tuition, scholarship awards, and May, 2007 interview/audition scheduling in Jaffrey, Peterborough, or Sharon, call Deborah Thurber at 603-532-6607.  Applications for Project Shakespeare  Summer 2007 must be submitted to her at 51 Harkness Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452 by April 20, 2007.

Here are some  comments from former Project Shakespeare students:   "Project Shakespeare has been one of the most powerful and valuable experiences of my life."  (Alexandra Hanson, Age 17, 5th year student). "This program alwaus remionds me how important being part of an ensemble is to theatre." (Emily Galen, Age 16, 3rd year student). "I learned to let myself become more comfortable with who I am."  (Diane Saker, Age 14, 1st year student)."We really went into depth about Shakespeare, his language, and his theatre. I loved how we all worked together to perform two plays in repertoire and how the rehearsals were really serious and used to perfect the final performance." (Nafkote Tamirat, Age 15, 1st year student).
